2016 Turkey Cup Challenge
This is the image for the news article titled 2016 Turkey Cup ChallengeNewlonsburg Elementary, with the assistance of our Student Council and PTO, will once again participate in the annual Turkey Cup Challenge to benefit the Westmoreland County Food Bank! The purpose of the challenge is to collect monetary donations that are turned into turkey vouchers for our hungry neighbors that reside in our local area as well as across Westmoreland County.

In the fall of 2014 our Newlonsburg students and staff raised $1177.86.  In 2015, our school exceeded that collection total and gifted $1328.55 to the food bank.  We are setting our sights high once again this year and hope that you can help us to top our 2015 total!

Many area schools, including others in Franklin Regional, will be participating in the challenge. Out of all participating schools across the county, the school that raises the most money will be awarded the “Turkey Cup” to proudly hold for one year.

Newlonsburg students can make their monetary donations on:
Tuesday, November 8
Thursday, November 10
Tuesday, November 15

Thursday, November 17

Every student who makes a donation will print his/her name on a hand cutout. The hand cutouts will be a different color for each grade level.  The handprints will be displayed as feathers on a giant Newlonsburg turkey.

Cash is accepted.  Checks can be made out to “Westmoreland County Food Bank,” and they are tax deductible.

Thanksgiving is truly the time of year to be thankful for all that we have and to help other families to enjoy the Thanksgiving season.  It’s a perfect time to help the food bank provide food to those who are less fortunate.  Your donation is GREATLY appreciated.

Kudos to our Newlonsburg PTO for once again assisting with our collection efforts!
